Proper Placement of Place Setting Placemats for Kids

My good friend Melissa emailed me the other day and asked if I could make some placesetting placemats for her two boys.  She found what she liked here.  I took a look and thought......ya, I probably could do that!  She didn't need the napkins and wanted a knife added to the mix.  On the reverse side I did a Batman print and Buzz Lightyear print.  All in all it was pretty easy peasy!

Here's the finished product:

Thanks for looking!!! ****Candie****

Faux Chenille Blanket

This is by far my favorite blanket I have made yet. It is also the blanket that took me the longest. There is a great tutorial here. It is 4 different colors of fabric each about a yard a piece. They are then sewed together in a straight line over and over again. Quite time consuming when you have two little ones. I cant wait to make another one! Don't forget to sign up for our giveaway.

Cute little flowerette

So as much as I would like to take credit for this sweet little gem.....I can't!  Renee made it, and it took her about an hour to cut and put it all together.  I however, borrowed it and attached it to a headband so I could wear it to a benefit that I was attending.  It looked O SO CUTE on my head.  Sorry, no pictures on my head!  ***Candie***

I used a piece of scrap material to attach it to the headband.

Isn't it cute as pie!

Vintage No-Sew Throw Pillows

Hey, hope ya'll had a great weekend! It was so beautiful here this weekend.  It's about time spring showed up!

Anyway, we visited my BIL yesterday to bring him a little housewarming gift.  Throw pillows!  I know, I know....your thinking...throw pillows?  Well these are not just any throw pillows.  1st, I made them, and yes they are no-sew.  Completely done with that steam a seam stuff, that's cause I don't own a sewing machine. 2nd, there vintage....circa 1960's for sure!  When I saw this fabric from my MIL, I knew just what I wanted to do with it.  My BIL's home decor is circa 1960's, and I thought it would look fab on his ugly not so pretty brown/rust boxy couch that he purchased from an estate sale. Sorry, no picture of the couch.

But here is a picture of them displayed on my couch!  Don't those colors just want to make you.....well, there really not that bad. ****Candie*****

Pretty Pink Pillow

So I got this pink fabric from my mother-in-law, who got it from her mother-in-law.  So that would be my husbands grandmother.  Anyway, needless to say it's really old!  Maybe circa 1960's, you know it's really shiny and really sturdy!

When I saw it I thought, this would make a wonderful pillow for my neice.  Her room is all purple and pinks.  Wanted something for her to lounge on in her room.  I appologize for the crapy not so good pictures, but I couldn't figure out the lighting.  Really need to learn how to use my camera!

I sewed in between the fabrics some beaded trim, that was a pain! Bent the needle on the sewing machine doing that.  Then I used those o so sparkley jeweled letters to spell out her name.  That too was a major pain! I couldn't get the right temp on my iron to get those darn jewels to adhere!  Finally, after about an hour.......voila!  FYI -- This is the very 1st thing that I've ever sewn! I think it turned out pretty good, for a 1st timer!!!  ****Candie*****

P.S. I have more of this fabric left.... stay tuned to see what I make with the rest!
