Mini Apple Pies

I made these little ity bity apple pies the other night.  They turned out yummy, however the picture did not do it justice at all!

Used just the basic ingredients for the making of an apple pie.  Depending how much apples you cut up, will depend on how much ingredients you use.  I basically had to eyeball it.  I did cheat and use store bought dough.  Cut little rounds using the pampered chef sandwich sealer that I have. Put them down inside the cupcake pan, cut up little pieces for the top......and bake!

Enjoy! ****Candie****

Halloween Cupcakes

So I mentioned in my previous post that it was my in-laws birthday over the Halloween weekend and I made a cupcake stand to display all 4 dozen cupcakes.  Well here are the fabulous Halloween inspired cupcakes that I made.  I found the witch hat tutorial here and the candy corn cupcakes here. I used chocolate and yellow cake mix for the candy corn cupcakes and butter cream for the frosting.  For the witch hats I used red velvet cake mix, cream cheese frosting and a little cool whip filling in the middle of the cupcake. They all turned out wonderful and were completely delicious!

Homemade Cupcake Stand

Ok, sorry people we have been kinda MIA for awhile.  I myself have been slow on the projects, and Lindsay and Renee have been pretty busy in their "normal" day to day lives.  Anyway, I got a couple things done, and more stuff in the works.......ie....my youngest sons room....

Anywho, my husbands mom and dad celebrated there birthday over this last weekend and I knew there was gonna be a ton of peeps.  Not real excited about the cupcake holders in the store and pretty much all of them don't fit 4 dozen cupcakes!  So I made my own......my appologies, I didn't take pictures "of in the process" of my work.  So with some scrap wood that I had and my always on hand gloss white and black paint I made this fantastic cupcake stand! All for a whopping $3.00! Only had to purchase the ribbon and the stencil......by the way for those that have never stenciled (that would be me) pick up the dab brush in the stencil isle......I used a sponge and I'm pretty sure my stencil work could have come out better.  I'll be posting pictures of the cupcakes on the stand in a few days.  ****Candie****

Curb Side Find

OMG.....I was driving down my road and lo' and behold I saw this sitting on the curb, with a sign taped to it that said FREE! Holy Moses! Free, really....it must be my lucky day!

Anywho, I knocked on the door and told that wonderful person that I would take this beast off their hands. She was very thankful! So being solid oak, it was pretty dang heavy. And this beast is in near perfect condition! SCORE! It's that typical honey oak stain, insert a gag sound....... but I figured with a little sanding and some love it would be beautiful!

So my blog land friends I am asking for input on this one! Please any ideas on what kind of transformation I should do is most welcome!  ****Candie****

Sew Simple Clutches......As Seen On Martha Stewart

Ok, sorry guys it's been awhile since we have posted......but life happened!  Geez, I hate it when that happens.  Anyway, I 've been super busy trying to get my garage reorganized, pictures later, so I can empty out my storage unit.  But in the little time that I did have I made some sweet little clutch bags for this bazaar  I mentioned here, and received this great email from my great friend Melissa on how to make them here.  I don't do tutorials very well so your gonna want to check out the website.  Anyway, without further ado, here are a handful of the clutches I made! Aren't they super cute! I love them!

On 2 of them I used heavy decor fabric and on the other 2 I wanted to try regular ol' quilting fabric to see how they would hold up.  Well they held up really well!

Sorry this picture didn't come out very well, trying to get a clear picture of the insides of the clutches to show off the fabric.  Anyway, hope you enjoy!  ****Candie****

Proper Placement of Place Setting Placemats for Kids

My good friend Melissa emailed me the other day and asked if I could make some placesetting placemats for her two boys.  She found what she liked here.  I took a look and thought......ya, I probably could do that!  She didn't need the napkins and wanted a knife added to the mix.  On the reverse side I did a Batman print and Buzz Lightyear print.  All in all it was pretty easy peasy!

Here's the finished product:

Thanks for looking!!! ****Candie****

Lemon Crinkle Cookies!!

Hello friends! My name is Renee and I'm addicted to all things lemon.  Kidding......but really, for some reason my passion this summer is anything lemon.  The latest recipe is Lemon Crinkle Cookie, and let me just tell you now, they melt in your mouth.  I have one of these little babies in the a.m. with my coffee and it is just like heaven!!

Lemon Crinkle Cookiesyield: 2-3 dozen
Ingredients:
½ cups Butter, Softened
1 cup Granulated Sugar
½ teaspoons Vanilla Extract
1 whole Egg
1 teaspoon Lemon Zest
1 Tablespoon Fresh Lemon Juice
¼ teaspoons Salt
¼ teaspoons Baking Powder
⅛ teaspoons Baking Soda
1-½ cup All-purpose Flour
½ cups Powdered Sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease light colored baking sheets with non stick cooking spray and set aside.
In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Whip in vanilla, egg, lemon zest and juice. Scrape sides and mix again. Stir in all dry ingredients slowly until just combined, excluding the powdered sugar. Scrape sides of bowl and mix again briefly. Pour powdered sugar onto a large plate. Roll a heaping teaspoon of dough into a ball and roll in powdered sugar. Place on baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough.
Bake for 9-11 minutes or until bottoms begin to barely brown and cookies look matte {not melty or shiny}. Remove from oven and cool cookies about 3 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.
This is where I discovered them, go give her some love ladies, her website is fantastic!!

Please go make some right now, you will thank me later!!

Tote Bags

Hello all! Well I thought I would post just one of the items that I am making for our "craft-a-palooza" this fall. As I mentioned in our previous post a bunch of us crafty girls are getting together to have a bazaar! Yay, fun....

Anyway, I'm making memory boards and tote bags.  Keep in mind, this is my very 1st major sewing project.  The most I've ever sewed before is a straight line to fix a hem. I received my sewing machine from my MIL, which is a Viking, it's like 30 yrs old.  Sews the most amazing stitch! That is until I got it stuck in reverse! Bummer for me.  So long story short, I ended up borrowing my neighbors till I can get mine fixed! Yay, neighbor!

Anywho, back to the real reason you came to read this blog.  Pictures of my tote bags!

Ok, so this picture didn't come out ver good!

Lined w/ a pocket! Sweet!

This one is my fav!

Lined no pocket

Hope you like them as much as I do! Maybe Lindsay will post a couple of her baby quilts.......Hint, Hint Lindsay!!! Heee heeee

It's a small bazaar, just a bunch of crafty gals hanging out all day! But the best part, part of our proceeds will go to DSAMC (Down Syndrome Assoc. of Mid-Columbia) that's were we live, in the mid-columbia. Anyway, I'm getting off track.  So here is a sneak peak at what Lindsay and I will be making.

pillow covers for all seasons

baby quilts and burp cloths

totes in different sizes
variety of memory boards
So if your in the Tri-City, Washingtion area (Washington State) on October 15, come check us out! We will be at the Richland Fire Station on Gway, from 9a - 4p!
